Vidya Sinha (born November 15, 1947, Mumbai), came from a humble family background. She began modelling and acting at the age of 18, and her whole life changed.

Her first movie was the low-budget, alternative cinema break-away hitRajnigandha, directed by her mentor Basu Chatterjee. The movie, although having none of the trappings of a typical Bollywood blockbuster, had an engaging story-line & haunting music & was a major box office success. This was followed by many more small-budget art-house films like Choti Si Baat (1975), and later by more mainstream, bigger budget Bollywood productions Pati Patni Aur Woh (1977), etc.

I am her cousin brother but never met her. She is daughter of my maternal uncle who left his family & settled in Bombay & joined films. I always missed her & her father. I have seen many movies of Vidya, I love her simplicity.
