ETV Urdu is an Indian television network that broadcasts in Urdu and is owned by ETV Network.
ETV Urdu was created on 15th August 2001. Broadcast from the sprawling Ramoji Film City on the outskirts of Hyderabad it has a state of the art setup. It is the only Indian television channel in which the content is 100% in Urdu. There is no mix of any other language unlike channels broadcast from Pakistan,UAE,Saudi Arabia and other countries, which also have traces of Sindhi or Punjabi. The channel has a 50-50 mix of News and Entertainment. Great care is taken to present the culture of Urdu Speaking populace of India and their problems. ETV Urdu was the brain child of Ramoji Rao and he was able to successfully launch ETV Urdu channel. In India starting an Urdu channel has been seen as a very difficult and risky venture and even the Government of India was wary of burning it’s fingers by starting any Urdu Channel, but all credit goes to a non-Urdu speaking patron Mr.Ramoji Rao, who has taken the lead and started this Channel.
