Jimmy Shergill who recently donned the role of an anti-hero in the movie ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ is about to explore grey shades of characters through another role in ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster’. The actor is quite excited about doing this role that has a touch of reality.

“Get me a man in real life who doesn’t have shades of grey. It is how things are in life. If you want a mind-blowing character, it is important to have a little bit of grey area in that character. They are real that way,” said Jimmy to IANS

The actor has previously chosen a lot of movies in which his character was primarily positive. ‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai’, ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’, ‘Mohabbatein’, ‘A Wednesday’ and ‘Yahaan’ are few examples of the actor’s performance in positive roles. After having done such roles, it seems like the actor wants to experiment with different roles.

“You have to be choosy at some point to grow. My growth has been slow and steady and I don’t regret a bit. I feel my time is only starting now; so I am enjoying every bit of it and taking up roles that I like,”

Going in detail about his role is ‘Saheb Biwi…’ which is being directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and has been done in only 25 days, Jimmy says ‘I  play Saheb whose royalty has somewhere faded away but at the same time the attitude hasn’t changed. He still wants to live that glory and doesn’t want to give up. This was the most difficult role for me. But Tigmanshu made it easy because he is not only a fantastic director but a great actor too. I go to his sets completely blank because I have worked with him in two other films and somewhere I have that confidence that he is going to show me what I need to do, what space I need to be in, in that particular scene. I just follow that.’

The movie is all set for release on September 30th and has Mahie Gill and Randeep Hooda as lead characters.

Jimmy also revealed to the media that he has plans of directing very soon but plans are yet to be confirmed.  “I have plans of turning director in the future, but nothing at the moment. Let’s see how things shape up,” said Jimmy who did his first movie with Gulzar. The movie ‘Maachis’ which released in the year 1996 was critically acclaimed.

Another good news for Jimmy Shergill fans is that Eros International has tied up with the actor’s ‘Jimmy Shergill Productions’ for making 4 Punjabi movies.  The first among these 4 projects would be ‘Taur Mitran Di’ and is all set to rock the Punjabi audience with Surveen Chawla, Amita Pathak, Amrinder Gill and Ranvijay Singh in the lead roles.

The next project will have Jimmy himself acting in the movie and the shoots for this movie would begin in February 2012.

The country’s manufacturing output grew at a slower rate for April than the previous month. The growth for March was also slower than earlier. This was revealed by the HSBC Purchasing Manager’s Index (PMI) measured based on a survey of 500 companies. The HSBC PMI dropped from 57.8 in March to 57.2 in April.

The marginal dip is attributed to the drop in new orders and industrial output. The figures indicate that the country’s manufacturing expansion is slowing down or growing at a slower pace. Readings over 50 show growth in manufacturing output.

Despite the slowdown in manufacturing as indicated by the latest PMI, the growth remained healthy. The two variables governing the index, new orders and output, stayed consistent throughout the period. The survey respondents credited better global economic environment to the growing demand for Indian goods. The improved promotional tactics and good reputation of Indian businesses also contributed to the increase in exports. However, domestic demand was the main force behind the rising new orders.

Robert Prior-Wandesforde, senior Asian economist, HSBC said, “Input prices showed a slightly smaller rise in April than March, although it was still the second-highest increase since the PMI began five years ago. Meanwhile, output prices registered their strongest increase for three months as backlogs of work jumped to an all-time high. The latter further supports the argument that demand is growing more strongly than supply, giving companies the confidence to push through price rises. In our view, India is in for a protracted period of rate increases, the extent of which will surprise most forecasters.”

Business outstanding of manufacturers rose in April due to piling new orders and reduction in manufacturing due to delayed delivery and power cuts. To increase production and ease capacity constraints, more staffs were hired and input stocks ramped up. Manufacturers also expanded their raw material holdings at a swifter pace due to strong buying activity.

The boom of Indian IT services is back again. Recovering from the layovers and the sit offs, the Indian IT sector is now looking to hire again.

The Indian IT sector is a $60 billion industry and as the demand for outsourcing increases with the cash crunch in the west, outsourcing firms are scampering to improve the quality of their services to get more and more business.

When you contrast this with what had been happening just a few months earlier, the difference are stark. Salaries and promotions were frozen and even big companies like Tata Consultancy Services had frozen hiring and sent back fresh recruits, only to call them back a year later. This had happened as most outsourcing firms began to see red in their first quarter reports.

This was a major setback to India’s growth story since the IT services sector is today one of the biggest job creators in India, lapping up fresh graduates every quarter. With the confidence back now, bigger things may be expected from the industry.
