This is the first time that Rishi Kapoor has been involved in producing a live show.  Rishi Kapoor said, “And why not? This is the first time that my son will be stepping on to a live stage. I want to make sure everything goes right. So yes, I’m producing and presenting the live concerts. With my experience in live concerts, I know I can be useful. I don’t want anything to go wrong for my son.”

Reliable sources have revealed that Rishi and his son would be appearing on stage together, for the first time ever.  Yes, Ranbir would be performing for the first time with his father, who is also a fantastic dancer.   Evading all questions on this topic Rishi says, “There’s talk on this. We’re thinking of a retro section. We’re exploring the possibility of me and Ranbir coming together. But right now I can’t tell you more on this.”

Rishi also tried to move away from questions on gossip about Deepika Padukone having not signed up for the event, perhaps expecting  some tense moments between  Deepika and Katrina when they had to spend so much time together at the event.

Rishi remarks, “All I can tell you is that we have Katrina, Priyanka and Shahid Kapoor on board. Deepika is likely to be on board. She hasn’t been signed on yet. No Bollywood concerts have happened abroad in the last three years.

Audiences abroad were bored of watching our stars perform the same songs over and over again. My boy has waited patiently for three years until he thought he was ready to face a live audience. He has turned down all offers to perform at awards function. And that’s his show’s USP. When actors perform at awards function these are beamed to dozens of countries across the world. Therefore there is no novelty left in watching a star dance on stage. My son has never been seen live.”

Apart from the above mentioned troupe, the show is also likely to rope in a Pakistani singer.
At the start of the series, the entourage would be covering Europe, Canada and America while during the second lap, supposedly in 2011, Ranbir is expected to cover South Africa and the Gulf.

Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor starrer Anjaana Anjaani’s release dates has been postponed till October 1st by the film makers and following this decision, the release of Aakrosh too has been delayed by a week by Priyadarshan.

Aakrosh will now be released on October 8th to avoid a clash with Sajid Nadiawala’s movie.

Priyadarshan has said “The Ayodhya verdict issue is likely to affect most of the Bollywood releases, not just ‘Aakrosh’. Other films are also going to delay their releases by at least a week. Also we did not want to clash with ‘Anjaana Anjaani’”.

The film Aakrosh is based on honor killing and has Akshay Khanna and Ajay Devgan in its star cast. The two starts have appealed their fans and the public to maintain peace and respect the verdict of the court.

The lead pair Ranbir and Priyanka had voiced their concerns earlier about the film being released on the same day as the verdict and that is the reason the Sajid Nadiawala film was postponed by a week.

Nadiawala said “There is no denying the fact that the Ayodhya issue is much bigger and needs respect. Ranbir had addressed the issue with me and Eros and we gave it a thought. Ranbir is of course one of the most looked-upon youth icons of our time and his point was a much sensitized and a valid one.”

He also said that post discussion with Eros the film was decided to be released on October 1st .

“It is an important day for the country. I hope there is no dispute and the decision is favorable to all. Audiences may not be able to go watch the film on that day,” Ranbir had said.

The delay in releases would affect Bollywood all throughout the year, according to the industry experts. In a bid not to clash with releases of bigger banners, small budget films will not have to reschedule their dates accordingly.

However, Sajid Nadiadwala and Co. took a guarded approach as instead of going ballistic with paid previews and playing multiple shows all through the evening and night, they kept it low profile with only a show each at select multiplexes in major cities. Moreover, the show timings were also quite late in the night with some of them beginning as late as 11 PM. Obviously, the makers and especially the leading man Akshay Kumar have learnt the lesson from ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ debacle where negative reviews had started flowing as early as 9 PM Thursday night once the first paid preview (at 6PM) had come to a close.

Though sources indicate that the makers of ‘Kambakkth Ishq’ are quite confident of their product, it made sense to have a restricted viewing of the film rather than it being a wholesome affair, lest it led to any negativity. In any case, record number of prints are being circulated across the country which means that opening weekend collections should be quite a bountiful.

There have been murmurs around the promos not being really strong for this Akshay and Kareena starrer. However, one just hopes that the team of ‘Kambakkth Ishq’ is hiding the real stuff in the background rather than revealing it all in the promos itself; a mistake that recent release ‘Paying Guest’ made and suffered badly. It would be better for a film with such a huge scale to let audiences warm up to the film and that’s a path this Sabbir Khan directed film seems to be taking.

As are the indicators right now, the film should fetch good numbers in the opening weekend even if they aren’t record breaking per se. While ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ and ‘Singh Is Kinng’ hold the record of netting 40 crores or more in their first week (with ‘Ghajini’ going through the ceiling with a 60 crores + opening, it would be fair if ‘Kambakkth Ishq’ crosses 35 crores mark at the least. This is where the film seems to be headed as well and even though a few may complain that these collections would be less for an Akshay Kumar biggie, one has to keep in mind that he has suffered two recent flops in ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ and ’8X10 Tasveer’, something which is looming large on audience’s mind. Moreover, 35 crores is not a bad number too as long as the film can sustain in weeks to come.

With ‘Shortkut – The Con Is On’ being the only major release in week to follow and ‘Jashnn’ arriving on 17th July, ‘Kambakkth Ishq’ now has to be just a decent enough film to keep showing steady collections before ‘Luck’ arrives on 24th July.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan’s performance in “The Last Lear” impressed Sir Richard Attenborough to the extent that he could not help but hug him.The film received a standing ovation at its official selection and screening at the London Film Festival.When Amitabh Bachchan, who was present at the screening, was bowing to accept the audiences appreciation, he was informed that a very important celebrity wanted to meet him backstage, said a statement released here Monday.

Bachchan excused himself momentarily and was stunned to find veteran actor Sir Richard Attenborough waiting to hug him and congratulate him for his performance in the film. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh, the film is based on Utpal Dutt’s play ‘Aajker Shahjahan’ and highlights the different acting skills necessary for theatre and cinema.

The film also stars Preity Zinta, Arjun Rampal, Divya Dutta, Shefali Shah and Jisshu Sengupta. “The Last Lear” has also been screened at the Toronto International Film Festival (2007) and the International Film Festival of India (2007) and is slated to release Sep 12 worldwide.

However, considering the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s (MNS) threaten to disrupt and stop the screening of all films starring the Bachchan family members in Maharashtra, producer Arnindam Chaudhuri fears he may suffer losses to the tune of Rs.70 million.
