Employees of states bank have decided to go on strike with their proposed strike on Thursday and Friday, 6 to 7th of august 2009 after failure of talk with govt over hike in wages and other demands.

Our talks were inconclusive. We are meeting again on Tuesday. But as of now we are going ahead with the strike based on the notice we served on 21st July 2009, said N.S. Virk, vice president All India Bank Officers’ Association (AIBOA).

The main demands are wage increase, a better social security net and a proper policy for giving jobs to the family members of deceased or disabled employees on compassionate grounds.

Virk said that if any positive result comes after the talk, they will consider withdrawing the strike but at this time strike call will stand.
