The Saawariyaan actor Ranbir Kapoor who has kissed more than one co-star in his movies talks about what he thinks of those romantic kissing sequences, “I do love stories most of the time. Naturally kissing scenes do come up. I don’t say ‘daalo’ (put in) kissing scenes. Moreover, it’s too awkward to kiss a girl in front of hundred people on the sets and in front of camera and lights.”

He adds that “It’s too mechanical. For me, a kissing scene is just like an action sequence. Normally, I finish off the kissing scene in a single take.” Ranbir has locked lips with Bipasha and Deepika in his movie ‘Bachna Ae Haseenon’ and with Priyanka Chopra in ‘Anjana Anjani’.

“I had a relationship with Deepika. She still continues to be my good friend. But the issue on which our relationship broke is a personal matter. It will be very unfair to the girl if I speak about that, because Deepika is single and may marry someone in future,” revealed Ranbir.

The two actors are about to share the screen in Karan Johar’s romance “Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani”.  The movie is set to release for Republic Day along with Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt starrer ‘Agneepath’.

Ranbir Kapoor and his Passion for Music

It looks like the actor is leaving no stone unturned for his role in the movie Rockstar. Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar portrays Ranbir as a musician and the actor has done all he could to look the part. The actor has gone upto the extent of learning to play guitar before starting to work for the movie. This association with the guitar has been taken a bit too seriously by the actor as he carries it everywhere he goes. According to inside information, the actor plays the guitar every time after pack up and it seems that the entire set looks forward to this moment. What’s surprising is that the actor also sings along while playing his guitar.

The actor had earlier expressed his grief over not being able to play any instruments in his movies. According to sources, Ranbir is a music lover and already knows to play Tabla and Drums. The actor was also trained as a singer in his childhood. This movie has given him an opportunity to connect to his musical side and he takes his guitar wherever he goes and plays it during breaks.

Confirming the same news, Ranbir tells the media “I love learning new instruments. I know drums, tabla and now guitar. Before I started work on Rockstar, I learnt to play the guitar for my character. I’m enjoying it so much, that I carry it where ever I go and play it in my breaks or free time.”

Jimmy Shergill who recently donned the role of an anti-hero in the movie ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ is about to explore grey shades of characters through another role in ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster’. The actor is quite excited about doing this role that has a touch of reality.

“Get me a man in real life who doesn’t have shades of grey. It is how things are in life. If you want a mind-blowing character, it is important to have a little bit of grey area in that character. They are real that way,” said Jimmy to IANS

The actor has previously chosen a lot of movies in which his character was primarily positive. ‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai’, ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’, ‘Mohabbatein’, ‘A Wednesday’ and ‘Yahaan’ are few examples of the actor’s performance in positive roles. After having done such roles, it seems like the actor wants to experiment with different roles.

“You have to be choosy at some point to grow. My growth has been slow and steady and I don’t regret a bit. I feel my time is only starting now; so I am enjoying every bit of it and taking up roles that I like,”

Going in detail about his role is ‘Saheb Biwi…’ which is being directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and has been done in only 25 days, Jimmy says ‘I  play Saheb whose royalty has somewhere faded away but at the same time the attitude hasn’t changed. He still wants to live that glory and doesn’t want to give up. This was the most difficult role for me. But Tigmanshu made it easy because he is not only a fantastic director but a great actor too. I go to his sets completely blank because I have worked with him in two other films and somewhere I have that confidence that he is going to show me what I need to do, what space I need to be in, in that particular scene. I just follow that.’

The movie is all set for release on September 30th and has Mahie Gill and Randeep Hooda as lead characters.

Jimmy also revealed to the media that he has plans of directing very soon but plans are yet to be confirmed.  “I have plans of turning director in the future, but nothing at the moment. Let’s see how things shape up,” said Jimmy who did his first movie with Gulzar. The movie ‘Maachis’ which released in the year 1996 was critically acclaimed.

Another good news for Jimmy Shergill fans is that Eros International has tied up with the actor’s ‘Jimmy Shergill Productions’ for making 4 Punjabi movies.  The first among these 4 projects would be ‘Taur Mitran Di’ and is all set to rock the Punjabi audience with Surveen Chawla, Amita Pathak, Amrinder Gill and Ranvijay Singh in the lead roles.

The next project will have Jimmy himself acting in the movie and the shoots for this movie would begin in February 2012.

Indian actor Shahid Kapoor

The much expected movie of the year ‘Mausam’ directed by Pankaj Kapoor and starring his son Shahid Kapoor in the lead role opposite Sonam Kapoor saw a splendid opening this Friday. Sources reveal that the movie made 9 crore approximately on its first day of release. This is definitely encouraging for the veteran actor Pankaj Kapoor who has taken his first step into direction.

The movie was made with the budget of Rs. 35 crore and has been released in about 2000 theatres. The movie is boasting of 100% occupancy currently. ‘Mausam’ is a romantic tale that depicts the story of two lovers who are forced to separate due to the political and social conditions around. It beautifully depicts their struggle for love that goes on for a decade and how they find happiness in the end. Shahid has donned the role of a pilot working for Air Force and Sonam Kapoor presents herself to the audience as a simple, Kashmiri girl.

The film was initially scheduled to release on September 16th 2011 but was delayed by a week due to the NOC that was pending from the Indian Air Force as they had expressed objections about few scenes in the movie.

While talking to IANS Shahid Kapoor looks back at his decade long journey in the industry. He began his journey as one among thousands striving to make their name in Bollywood and having an actor for a father didn’t give him any advantage over the others.  His journey from the boy next door image to a mature actor can be seen in the recent release ‘Mausam’.

“Ten years back, I was dreaming to being where I am today,” Shahid expressed to IANS.  He started his career through a cute lover boy role in the movie ‘Ishq Vishk’ in the year 2003.  In Mausam he plays the role of Harinder Singh, a young fun loving, village boy who becomes a mature Air Force officer. This could be considered as a reflection of Shahid’s transition.  . “I’m glad this reflects! I remember when I sat down with dad, he said actor said ‘Beta, I want to show you not just in one shade, I want to show different aspects of you as an actor’.So that was the effort with ‘Mausam’,” said the actor.

The actor admits that when he first entered the industry, he was a lot confused and now things have gotten clearer  “A decade back, I was running around trying to get myself any kind of a role, going to different places, and auditioning and being rejected. I was trying to make my body and just trying to get a break anyhow. Then ‘Ishq Vishk’ happened. When I started off, I didn’t really know anything. I just had a lot of love and passion for acting. I knew acting was what I loved the most in the world. But I got confused. The first four or five years of my career, I was very confused – I didn’t know what was right, what was wrong. There was no one to guide, nobody to tell me. Although my father is an actor, he wasn’t the hero in films. Besides, he always told me that I need to make my own mistakes and learn from what I am doing. So I went through this whole phase of trying to understand what the right thing to do is,” said Shahid and continued to go on  “Then one day, I came up with a very simple solution – do what you want to do, do what you love doing! Forget about what would work, what wouldn’t work, and what is supposed to work. I started doing films that excited me, films I believed in, and that’s when my career started taking some kind of shape. I started this process about four or five years back, and now I am very happy and fortunate to be where I am today. I’m very satisfied with the kind of work I am doing. “

Ra.One – Probably the most awaited music score of the year is out! And if you were expecting an international, superb and memorable music score, then you were expecting just right!

The music score starts with Chammak challo! Sung by international star Akon, this song was leaked on the internet few months ago and was an instant hit. The song, though not same as the leaked version, is a sure shot chartbuster. If last year belonged to Munni and Sheila, then the coming months will surely belong to Chammak Challo.

Following Chammak Challo is a romantic number, Dildaara. A duly credited version of English Classic “Stand by me” this is a soulful rendition by Shafqat Amanat Ali. You won’t be able to stop listening to this number.

This is followed by another absolute CHARTBUSTER – Criminal. Another Akon number, Criminal has an amazing mix of R&B with Punjabi beats. One can imagine people going nuts on dance floors on this number. It will be interesting to see how they have picturized this number.

The fourth song on the CD is a complete surprise. A semi-classical sad song named Bhare Naina takes you to a deep, blue corner of your heart. A departure from the otherwise happy and peppy feel of the album, Bhare Naina is sentimental and beautifully sung.

Then there is Raftaarein! When this song starts, you almost do a double take. That’s because it just sounds like a R.D. Burman song. Vishal sings in the typical R.D. Burman style and will transport you back to 1970s.

Another soulful song is Stand By Me. Another version of the English classic, the song is a happy “Main hoon na” kind of number. It makes you feel happy and all “gooey” inside. This is the song that you can sing for almost any loved in your life.

Album also consists a number remixes, background scores and a chase song sung by Sukhwinder Singh. All of these numbers give you a sense of Ra.One. It gives you a glimpse of the grandeur of this movie.

In short, if you were going to purchase just one music CD this year, then make it Ra.One. The CD also comes with a booklet with special pictures and an introduction of all the characters. The package of the CD is also very stylish and matches the theme of the movie.

Blog of India rating – 4.5 stars out of 5 stars.
